Pellet Victim Receives Rs 41.16 Lakh for LPG Agency
In 2016, a young girl named Insha Mushtaq was hit by a pellet gun and lost her eyesight.
She wanted to run a gas (LPG) shop, but the government had only promised money for it in 2018 and never gave it.
On 30 July 2024, the state government finally gave her 41.16 lakh rupees to start the shop.
The minister said this was justice that was delayed but not denied.
Insha is now studying in Braille and using special tools to help her learn.
The decision shows the government is trying to help people hurt during the 2016 protests.
Insha Mushtaq, a 24‑year‑old pellet victim, received Rs 41.16 lakh to start her LPG distributorship.
The money was sanctioned in 2018 but only released on 30 July 2024 by Food Supplies Minister Satish Sharma.
Mushtaq lost her eyesight in July 2016 when pellet guns fired by security forces injured her while studying.
The decision follows a broader effort to compensate victims of the 2016 unrest, when nearly 12,000 people were injured by pellet guns.
The government described the case as “justice delayed but not denied” and highlighted that the distributorship had been on paper for a decade.
