SEBI Nears Approval for NSE IPO
The Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) is very close to giving the National Stock Exchange (NSE) permission to start its initial public offering (IPO).
SEBI Chairman Tuhin Kanta Pandey said this could happen by the end of the month.
NSE has been waiting for this approval for a long time because of some problems with how it handled trading in the past.
NSE has fixed many of these issues and paid a penalty.
Now, SEBI is ready to give the okay.
Once they do, NSE can start preparing to go public.
Many small investors are already interested in buying NSE shares, even though the prices have gone up.
SEBI is at an advanced stage of issuing a no-objection certificate (NoC) for NSE's IPO, possibly by the end of the month.
NSE has been seeking regulatory approval for its IPO since 2016, delayed by governance concerns and the co-location controversy.
NSE settled its Trading Access Point (TAP) architecture case by paying a penalty of ₹643 crore in October 2024.
NSE has implemented corrective measures, including changes in management, board restructuring, and strengthening compliance frameworks.
Nearly 1.46 lakh retail investors hold NSE shares in the unlisted market, showing strong interest despite rising share prices.
