IndiGo Reports 78% Profit Decline
IndiGo, India's biggest airline, recently announced that its profit for the last three months of 2025 was much lower than the previous year.
They made ₹549.1 crore this time, which is a big drop from ₹2,448.8 crore last year.
This happened because of some big one-time costs, like having to follow new labor laws and paying for problems that caused many flights to be canceled or delayed.
Even though they had to deal with these issues, they still made more money overall compared to last year.
The airline also had more passengers, but people paid a bit less for tickets on average.
The boss of IndiGo said that even with all these problems, they still did pretty well in making money.
IndiGo's net profit declined by 78% to ₹549.1 crore for Q3 2025, compared to ₹2,448.8 crore in the same period last year.
The decline was primarily due to a ₹1,546.5 crore hit from exceptional items, including new labor law provisions and operational disruption costs.
Total income for Q3 2025 was ₹24,540.6 crore, up from ₹22,992.8 crore in the year-ago period.
Passenger traffic increased by 2.8% to 3.19 crore, but yield decreased by 1.8% to ₹5.33.
The airline faced significant operational disruptions in early December, leading to flight cancellations and delays, and a penalty from the DGCA.
