Delhi High Court Orders GMR Group to Vacate Farmhouse
Imagine a company called GMR Group was renting a fancy farmhouse for their boss.
The owner, Indus Sor Urja, made a rental agreement but didn't officially register it.
Then, the property was sold to a new owner, Onkar Infotech, for a lot of money.
Onkar said the old rental agreement wasn't valid because it wasn't registered.
The court agreed, saying GMR Group was just renting month-to-month.
The court told GMR they have to leave the farmhouse, which was being used as the company chairman's residence.
GMR claimed the land laws should apply, and tried to say the lease was longer.
Now, GMR has to find a new place for the chairman.
Delhi High Court ruled GMR Group must vacate a farmhouse in Delhi.
The farmhouse was used as the official residence of the company’s chairman.
Onkar Infotech purchased the property for ₹115 crore in May 2024.
The court found the lease was unregistered and invalid.
GMR Group argued the land was agricultural and lease was extended to 2028
