Mumbai Court Bars Filmmaker from Defamatory Remarks on Salman Khan
Salman Khan went to court because he said some people made false and hurtful statements about him and his family in videos on YouTube and other social media.
The court agreed and told those people to stop making such statements.
Salman also asked for money to make up for the damage to his reputation.
The court said that while people have the right to free speech, they can't use it to say mean or false things about others.
The videos compared Salman to a known criminal, which he said was not true and hurt his image.
Salman Khan filed a defamation case against Abhinav Kashyap, Komal Mehru, and Khushboo Hazare for alleged derogatory remarks.
The court issued an interim order prohibiting the defendants from making or publishing further defamatory remarks.
The defendants' interviews, aired on YouTube and other platforms, allegedly contained false statements and insults.
Salman Khan sought a permanent injunction and Rs 9 crore in damages for reputational harm.
The court ruled that freedom of speech does not extend to derogatory or intimidating language.
