Anaemia Affects 15% of Tribals in State: Govt Study
Imagine that a lot of people in the state, especially tribal communities, are not getting enough of the nutrients to have healthy blood.
This can make them feel tired and weak.
About 15% of them have this problem called anaemia.
The government wants to help by checking the blood of many people to find this issue early.
They are also trying to teach people about healthy eating and giving them vitamins to boost their health.
However, they need more doctors who specialize in blood problems and better ways to test for these issues, especially in areas that do not have access to private healthcare.
Study reveals approximately 15% of tribals in the state are affected by anaemia.
The government aims to screen 14 crore tribals across 17 states by 2040 under the national sickle cell elimination mission.
Jharkhand is a high-priority state in this mission, with over 5 crore people screened.
Screening using HPLC is available in Ranchi but limited in other districts.
Experts highlighted the need for more haematology specialists and dedicated courses in medical colleges.
