Supreme Court Orders SIT Probe Into Tribal Man's Death
The Supreme Court of India has ordered a special team of investigators to look into the death of a young tribal man named Nilesh Adivasi.
The team, called an SIT, will have three members: two senior officers who are not from Madhya Pradesh to ensure they are fair, and one woman officer.
The court wants the team to finish their investigation quickly, preferably in a month.
They will look at different stories about what happened and make sure the man's widow and other important witnesses are safe and not influenced by anyone.
The court is concerned because there is no note saying the man wanted to end his life, so they want to find out what really happened.
The Supreme Court ordered a three-member SIT to probe the death of 27-year-old tribal man Nilesh Adivasi.
The SIT will include two SSP-level officers from outside Madhya Pradesh and one woman Deputy SP.
The investigation should be completed within a month.
The SIT will examine conflicting accounts and other possibilities leading to the death, as no suicide note was found.
The court directed the SIT to protect vulnerable witnesses, especially the widow, from any influence.
