Paris Accord Progress Despite Rising Emissions
The Paris Agreement was made in 2015 to help reduce global warming.
At that time, experts thought the world was on track for 3.6° Celsius of warming by 2100.
But now, because of the actions taken under the Paris Agreement, the projected warming has decreased to 2.6° Celsius.
This shows that even though emissions are still rising, the agreement has made a positive difference.
It means we are in a better position than we would have been without the Paris Agreement.
So, even though there is still work to do, the agreement has helped us make some progress in fighting climate change.
The Paris Agreement has reduced the projected global warming from 3.6° Celsius to 2.6° Celsius.
This progress was calculated by Climate Action Tracker in October 2015 and updated in 2023.
