India-China Hold First Eastern Corps Talks Amid LAC Tensions

India and China disagree about parts of their military boundary.

Their armies are scheduled to meet on September 6 at Wacha-Damai in Arunachal Pradesh.

This is described as the first senior Corps Commander-level meeting between the two sides in the eastern sector.

India’s representative is identified in most reports as Lieutenant General Girish Kalia of 3 Corps.

The meeting is meant to discuss problems along the Line of Actual Control.

Similar talks have previously taken place in Ladakh after the 2020 Galwan clashes.

The two countries have different ideas about where the boundary lies, which can sometimes cause trouble for soldiers.

The meeting is intended to support peace and reduce tensions, although the boundary dispute remains unresolved.
