CAR T-cell therapy brings new hope against blood cancer

CAR T-cell therapy brings new hope against blood cancer

Blood cancers are sicknesses that affect the blood, bone marrow, and the body's defense system.

They are becoming more common in India.

Unlike some cancers, they do not show up as a lump you can see or feel.

Doctors say people should not ignore signs like feeling very tired, getting sick often, having a fever, or losing weight.

A simple blood test can find these cancers early when treatment works best.

One exciting new treatment is called CAR T-cell therapy.

In this treatment, doctors take special white blood cells from the patient and train them in a lab to fight the cancer.

Then they put the trained cells back into the patient's body.

This helps the patient's own immune system fight the disease.

It is used for patients whose cancer came back or did not get better with regular treatment.
