Delhi Police said they had opened 25 cases connected to protests in New Delhi.

The protests began on October 2 and were against alleged problems in the updating of voter lists.

Police say some demonstrations involved damage, confrontations, or breaking restrictions on gatherings.

Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra are among the people named in the cases.

Congress and other Opposition members have called for Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar to resign.

Hundreds of protesters were detained and later released.

The police say their actions were needed to maintain public order.

The accusations in the cases have not been proven.
