Codava National Council Celebrates Cultural Identity
The Codava National Council (CNC) is a group that represents the Codava community, which is an indigenous group with its own unique culture and traditions.
The CNC recently sent out a message for the New Year, saying that the Codava community celebrates its traditional New Year, called Edmyaar Ondh, on April 14.
However, the community also acknowledges and celebrates the global New Year on January 1.
The CNC believes it's important to be open to both their own traditions and global cultural practices.
They also have some big hopes for the future, like wanting more recognition and autonomy for the Codava community.
The CNC wishes for peace, harmony, and freedom from prejudice for everyone in the world.
The Codava National Council (CNC) celebrates both the traditional Codava New Year (Edmyaar Ondh) on April 14 and the global New Year on January 1.
The CNC emphasizes the importance of preserving Codava cultural identity while engaging with global traditions.
The Codava community is described as an indigenous, mono-ethnic, animistic group with a distinct cultural identity.
The CNC has been reviving and publicly celebrating Edmyaar Ondh for over three decades.
