US-India Trade Talks Boost Indian Stocks
The Indian stock market had a good day on Monday.
The US ambassador to India said that the US and India are talking about trade, which made the stock market go up.
The main stock indices, Nifty 50 and Sensex, ended the day higher.
However, smaller company stocks did not do as well.
Investors are hopeful that the trade talks will continue, even if they take a long time.
Foreign investors are still selling stocks, but local investors are buying.
The market is waiting to see how companies did in the last quarter.
Some companies like Tata Steel and Asian Paints did well.
The market is also relieved that stock prices are not too high compared to how much companies earn.
US Ambassador Sergio Gor announced active US-India trade discussions, boosting Indian stock market indices.
Nifty 50 and Sensex recovered to close 0.4% higher, while broader market indices fell.
Market participants are cautiously optimistic about trade talks but expect prolonged negotiations.
Foreign portfolio investors continued selling, while domestic institutional investors bought shares.
December quarter earnings growth for Nifty 50 companies expected to be in mid-single digits.
