Pune Municipal Corporation Elections: Revised Voter Rolls and Seat Reservations Announced
The people who help run Pune city are getting ready for new elections.
First, they are making a list of who can vote.
This list will be ready on November 20, and it will only include people who were on the list by July 1.
If your name isn't on the list, you can ask to fix it, but no new people can be added.
Then, on December 5 and December 12, they will show everyone the different voting areas and where people need to go to vote.
They've also decided how many seats will be for women (half!), and how many are for different groups like OBC, SC, and ST people.
These elections were delayed because of some rules about reservations, but a big court said they must happen by the end of January.
Revised electoral rolls for PMC elections, with a July 1 cutoff, will be published on November 20.
Electoral panel boundaries and polling booth lists will be declared on December 5 and December 12 respectively.
Voters must verify their names in the revised rolls; corrections will be made, but no new additions or deletions are permitted.
A total of 165 corporator seats are up for election, with 83 reserved for women, 44 for OBC, 22 for SC, and 2 for ST.
The PMC elections must be completed by the end of January next year as directed by the Supreme Court.
