Maharashtra ITIs to Become Skill Development Hubs
The government of Maharashtra is planning to make Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) better places for learning skills.
They will spend a lot of money to upgrade these schools.
The first schools to be upgraded are in Nagpur, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, and Pune.
The government wants to teach more courses, especially in areas where there are not many factories.
They believe this will help young people get better jobs.
The money for this project will come from the central government, the state government, and companies.
The goal is to make Maharashtra a leader in skill development.
Maharashtra's ITIs will be transformed into best-in-class Skill Development Hubs under the PM–SETU scheme.
First phase implementation approved for Nagpur, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, and Pune districts.
Total investment of ₹242 crore from Central and State Governments, with industry contribution.
Hub-and-spoke model with each hub ITI introducing four new courses and upgrading ten existing ones.
Priority given to service-sector courses, multi-skill programmes, and livelihood-oriented courses in areas with limited industrial presence.
