South Korea Recalls Ukraine Envoy Amid POW Disclosure Dispute

South Korea Recalls Ukraine Envoy Amid POW Disclosure Dispute

South Korea is recalling its ambassador from Ukraine because the two governments disagree about information shared publicly.

The disagreement is about two North Korean soldiers who were captured while fighting for Russia.

The soldiers were later transferred to South Korea.

South Korea says Ukraine had asked to keep the transfer secret to protect the soldiers and their families.

Ukraine's president, Volodymyr Zelensky, announced the transfer publicly.

His office later said there had been no agreement to keep it secret.

South Korea has asked Ukraine to explain and apologize.

It says it still wants to solve the problem through talks and keep good relations with Ukraine.
