MahaRERA Grants Relief to 13 Families in Delayed Goregaon Project
MahaRERA has helped 13 families who were waiting a long time for their homes in a project called Arista in Goregaon, Mumbai.
The developer, Sahajanand Developers, kept delaying the completion of the project.
The families had paid most of the money but didn't get their homes or proper agreements.
MahaRERA said the developer must give them back their money with interest or finish the project and give them their homes.
The developer tried to say the delays were because of COVID-19 and other problems, but MahaRERA didn't accept that excuse.
The families can choose to get their money back or wait for their homes and get interest for the delay.
MahaRERA ordered Sahajanand Developers to register sale agreements with 13 families within 60 days.
The Arista project in Goregaon, Mumbai, was originally scheduled for completion in December 2019 but was extended to December 2025.
Families who want to withdraw from the project will receive refunds excluding taxes and statutory charges within 60 days.
Continuing allottees will receive interest at SBI MCLR plus 2% for every month of delay from the promised possession date.
The developer's plea for a COVID-19 moratorium was rejected as inapplicable to the majority of the complaints.
