TikTok faces glitches, censorship claims, and app deletions
TikTok is having some problems lately.
First, there was a big power outage that caused glitches like videos not showing views or taking a long time to load.
Some people also think TikTok is hiding videos that criticize certain things, like the President or other topics.
Because of this, some people are deleting the app.
Even though more people are uninstalling it, the number of people using it every day is still going up.
Experts say that even if the problems are just technical, people might still leave if they think their videos are being hidden or not working right.
But sometimes, people say they'll leave but don't actually do it, like when they protested another app last year and then stopped talking about it.
TikTok experienced a major infrastructure issue due to a power outage at a U.S. data center, causing glitches like zero views and slow load times.
Users raised concerns about censorship, including videos critical of President Donald Trump, ICE, or mentions of Jeffrey Epstein.
California Gov. Gavin Newsom announced a review into whether TikTok is violating state law by censoring Trump-critical content.
Daily average app uninstalls grew 130% from Jan. 22 to Jan. 26, but daily average users still increased by 2%.
Experts note that while technical issues are expected during infrastructure shifts, persistent problems could lead to user loss.
