UP's Success in Combating Encephalitis Under Yogi Govt
For many years, eastern Uttar Pradesh faced a big problem with a disease called encephalitis, which made many children very sick.
The government, led by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, decided to fight this disease in a new way.
They didn't just treat sick children in hospitals.
Instead, they worked on many things at the same time.
They gave vaccines to children to prevent the disease, taught people about how to stay safe, and improved cleanliness in villages.
They also made sure hospitals had better equipment and trained more doctors.
Because of these efforts, the number of sick children and deaths from encephalitis has gone down a lot.
The United Nations even praised Uttar Pradesh for doing such a good job.
Now, the government wants to completely get rid of this disease.
Uttar Pradesh's government implemented a comprehensive strategy to combat encephalitis, including vaccination, sanitation, and awareness campaigns.
The Dastak campaign ensured door-to-door vaccination and awareness, significantly reducing cases and deaths.
Sanitation improvements and mosquito control measures were integrated to prevent the spread of the disease.
Healthcare facilities were strengthened with new treatment centers and trained personnel, reducing the burden on major hospitals.
The state reported a 75% reduction in encephalitis cases and an 85% reduction in deaths since 2017, with zero deaths reported since 2024.
