Supreme Court Halts Proceedings Against TN Minister in Assets Case
Imagine a government minister in Tamil Nadu was accused of having more money than he should.
A special court was looking into it, but the Supreme Court stepped in and paused the whole process.
This all started because the minister and his family were said to have a lot of extra money, about 2.1 crore rupees.
The High Court had previously told the special court to formally accuse them, but the Supreme Court has now put a hold on that.
The Supreme Court is also asking for more information by sending a notice.
The case goes back to when the minister was in charge of things from 2006 to 2010.
The Supreme Court stayed proceedings against Tamil Nadu Minister I Periyasamy in a disproportionate assets case.
The case involves allegations of Periyasamy and his family amassing Rs 2.1 crore in assets.
The Supreme Court issued a notice in the matter alongside the stay order.
The Madras High Court had previously directed a special court to frame charges.
Periyasamy was a minister between 2006 and 2010.
