AIIMS Delhi Conducts India's First Brain Stent Trial
AIIMS Delhi has completed a big test called the GRASSROOT trial for a new brain stent called Supernova.
This stent is used to help people who have very bad strokes.
The test showed that the stent is safe and works well.
The results were published in a famous medical journal.
The stent is made by a company called Gravity Medical Technology.
It is now approved for use in India and will be made here at a lower cost.
This is a big step for India because it is the first time a stroke treatment device has been approved based on a test done in India.
The stent has already helped more than 300 people in Southeast Asia and will now be available to many more in India.
AIIMS Delhi conducted India's first clinical trial of the Supernova brain stent for severe stroke treatment.
The GRASSROOT trial found excellent safety and efficacy outcomes for the Supernova stent.
Results were published in the 'Journal of Neurointerventional Surgery' (JNIS).
The Supernova stent-retriever was approved by the CDSCO for routine use in India.
The trial involved eight centers and marks a milestone for the Make-in-India initiative.
