EID Parry Swings to Standalone Loss Amidst Muted Sugar Demand
EID Parry, a company that deals with sugar and other products, had a mixed financial report.
On one hand, their main company lost money in one part of their business because they had to set aside money for an investment that didn't do well.
This made their standalone profit turn into a loss of ₹285 crore, even though their sugar business wasn't doing great.
However, when you look at all their businesses together, the company actually made more profit than last year, earning ₹424 crore.
This is because their other businesses, like making alcohol from sugarcane and their overall operations, did very well and brought in more money.
So, while one part of the company struggled, the bigger picture showed growth.
EID Parry reported a standalone loss of ₹285 crore for Q2 FY26, a significant decrease from a profit of ₹28 crore in Q2 FY25, largely due to an impairment provision.
Standalone revenue remained flat at ₹754 crore in Q2 FY26 compared to ₹755 crore in the same period last year, impacted by muted sugar demand.
Consolidated revenue from operations increased by 24% year-on-year to ₹11,624 crore in Q2 FY26.
Consolidated net profit (after non-controlling interest) rose to ₹424 crore in Q2 FY26, up from ₹306 crore in Q2 FY25.
The Consumer Products Group (CPG) saw a 28% decline in turnover to ₹169 crore due to restricted release quotas for sweeteners and reduced volumes.
