674 Mizoram Family Pension Beneficiaries Surrender PPOs
Mizoram let people who were not eligible for family pensions give up their pension orders without paying back money they had already received.
The three-month period ran from July 1 to September 30.
A total of 674 people surrendered their orders.
Some had received the money through the state government, while others received it through banks.
The government says this could save more than Rs 15 crore each year.
Officials are now checking whether other people are receiving pensions they should not get.
A task force of 13 teams is doing the checks.
People suspected of receiving a pension wrongly will have 15 days to explain.
The work is scheduled to be completed by December 31.

Beneficiaries suspected of wrongful receipt will receive a show-cause notice and 15 days to respond; the exercise is due to finish by December 31.
