Premier League Smashes Summer Spending Record With £3.46bn Splurge

Premier League clubs spent more money on players this summer than ever before.

Altogether, they spent about £3.46 billion.

Manchester City spent the most, using £458 million to sign several players.

Its biggest reported deal was £125 million for Enzo Fernandez.

Three other players also moved for more than £100 million.

Many clubs bought players from other teams in the Premier League.

The league’s large broadcasting deals and changes to financial rules were cited as reasons for its spending power.

Some planned transfers were canceled before the deadline.
