IndiaOne Air services face uncertainty in Jamshedpur
There is some uncertainty about the future of IndiaOne Air's flight services from Jamshedpur.
The airline operates flights to Kolkata and Bhubaneswar, but the government's Regional Connectivity Scheme (RCS) that supports these flights is about to expire.
A leader from the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) met with the CEO of Tata Steel, who owns the airport, to discuss the issue.
The JMM leader asked Tata Steel to continue supporting the flights and to consider expanding the runway at the Sonari Aerodrome.
The Tata Steel CEO said they are working on expanding the runway.
The JMM leader also plans to ask the Jharkhand Chief Minister to talk to the central government about extending the RCS to keep the flights running.
IndiaOne Air's flight services from Jamshedpur to Kolkata and Bhubaneswar face uncertainty due to the expiry of the Regional Connectivity Scheme (RCS).
JMM leader Kunal Sarangi met with Tata Steel CEO T V Narendran to discuss the issue and seek continued support for the flights.
Tata Steel has been covering landing charges, parking fees, and terminal management costs, but these privileges may lapse with the RCS expiry.
Sarangi urged Tata Steel to expand the runway at the Sonari Aerodrome to accommodate larger aircraft until a solution for the stalled Dhalbhumgarh airport project is found.
Tata Steel is reportedly working on a proposal to expand the runway at Sonari Aerodrome.
