Maharashtra FDA Cracks Down on Food Establishments Before Festive Season

Maharashtra's food safety agency inspected food businesses before the festive season.

In Mumbai and the Konkan region, eight establishments had their food licences suspended or cancelled.

Inspectors said they found serious problems with cleanliness and food storage.

In other parts of the state, officials seized prohibited food and reported arrests and police cases.

In Akola, they seized 1,900 kilograms of sweets that were allegedly being transported in unhygienic conditions.

The agency said it would keep acting against unsafe or prohibited food.
