Google Delays Full Gemini Transition Until 2026
Google has decided to delay the complete switch from Google Assistant to Gemini on Android phones and tablets.
Originally planned for the end of 2025, the transition is now set for March 2026.
This gives Google more time to make sure Gemini can do everything Google Assistant can, like controlling smart home devices and playing media.
Users can still choose to use Google Assistant or switch to Gemini on their devices.
Google Assistant was first introduced in 2016 and will have served for a full ten years before being fully replaced.
Gemini is already the main assistant on Wear OS smartwatches and is being introduced on Android Auto and Google TV.
