Government Addresses EPFO Higher Pension Applications in Parliament
Some people who pay into a retirement plan called EPFO wanted to get a bigger pension based on their actual salary.
The government made a rule in 2014 about this, but it caused confusion.
Then, the Supreme Court said they could do this if they applied with their employer.
Now, the government said they've looked at many applications, and most have been decided.
Some were approved, but many were rejected.
There are still some applications waiting to be reviewed.
Government clarified the status of applications for higher pension in Lok Sabha.
The Supreme Court ruled in 2022 that employees could opt for a higher pension based on their actual salary.
The EPFO has processed 15.24 lakh applications, with 98.5% disposed of.
Out of the total applications, 11.01 lakh were rejected and 21,995 are still pending.
