Delhi High Court Mandates 5% ECA/Sports Quota at DU Colleges
The Delhi High Court has told all colleges linked to Delhi University to reserve 5% of their seats for students good at sports or extracurricular activities.
This decision came after a student, Aditi Rawat, argued that one college wasn't following the rules.
The court agreed that the 5% rule must be followed, based on a statement from DU itself.
This means more chances for students with talent in sports and other activities to get into DU.
The new rule will take effect from the next academic year.
Delhi High Court mandated a 5% reservation for ECA and sports quota in all DU colleges.
The ruling followed a petition by Aditi Rawat, a gold medalist in lawn tennis.
The court referenced DU's policy requiring the 5% reservation.
Hindu College argued the quota was not mandatory; DU clarified it was required.
The order applies to future admissions, not the 2025-26 session.
