Karnataka Cabinet Approves ₹8 Nandini Milk Price Increase

Karnataka Cabinet Approves ₹8 Nandini Milk Price Increase

Karnataka’s Cabinet has approved a plan to make Nandini milk cost ₹8 more per litre.

The price change has not been formally announced yet because election rules are in force.

If the full increase reaches shoppers, blue-packet toned milk would cost ₹54 instead of ₹46 per litre.

Dairy farmers and milk unions say it costs more to feed and care for cattle and to process and package milk.

They also say drought has reduced the availability of fodder.

Karnataka’s milk procurement rate is lower than the rates listed for several other states.

The article says this would be Nandini’s fifth price increase in recent years.

The state’s milk unions have had mixed results, with most reporting a combined profit and five reporting losses.
