Six High-Yielding Spice Varieties Identified for Release by AICRPS
Scientists met at a special meeting to find new types of spices that can grow more and be stronger.
They picked six new kinds of spices, including three for ajwain, one for fennel, and two for ginger.
These new kinds will help farmers grow more and earn more money.
They also talked about new ways to help plants grow better and fight off bugs and sicknesses.
The scientists want to help farmers deal with changes in the weather and think that giving spices special labels, like 'Geographical Indications,' could be helpful.
Everyone agreed that their work should help farmers the most and support the country's goals for farming.
Six high-yielding spice varieties recommended for release include three ajwain, one fennel, and two ginger varieties.
The recommendations were made during the 36th Annual Group Meeting of the ICAR-All India Coordinated Research Project on Spices (AICRPS) in Meghalaya.
Seven new technologies for crop management and plant protection were also recommended for farmers.
These initiatives aim to boost crop productivity, enhance farm income, and address challenges like climate change and pests.
Experts emphasized the need for research to support commercial ventures and align with national agricultural priorities.
