Gujarat Chief Minister pitches emerging sectors to diaspora investors
Gujarat’s chief minister visited Washington to speak with people from Gujarat who live abroad.
He asked them to invest money in businesses and projects in Gujarat.
He especially discussed GIFT City, semiconductors, artificial intelligence, data centres and biotechnology.
He also said tourism, hotels and hospitality could grow.
Patel described Gujarat as having good infrastructure, government policies and financial systems.
He said the state is also working to improve water, electricity, jobs and city services.
The visit is part of preparations for an investment summit in 2027.
He also met a Walmart executive about helping small businesses and artisans sell in global markets.
Bhupendra Patel urged Gujaratis abroad to invest in Gujarat’s emerging sectors and GIFT City.
He highlighted semiconductors, artificial intelligence, data centres, biotechnology, tourism and hospitality as investment opportunities.
Patel said Gujarat was strengthening infrastructure, governance, financial discipline and basic public services.
The outreach took place in Washington during Patel’s week-long US-Canada visit ahead of the Vibrant Gujarat Global Investors Summit 2027.
Patel also met Walmart executive Dan Bryant to discuss global-market access for Gujarat’s MSMEs and small artisans.
