Nagole’s 72-Foot Eco-Friendly Ganesh Idol Draws Devotees and Rituals

A very tall Ganesh idol has attracted many visitors in Nagole, Hyderabad.

The idol is 72 feet high and is made from materials intended to be kinder to the environment.

Bamboo and straw form its frame, while artists made the idol from clay.

Twenty-five artists from West Bengal worked on it.

Five priests from Varanasi perform a special Ganga aarti every evening.

Water brought from the Ganga is used during the ceremony.

After the festival, the idol will be dissolved at the same place instead of being taken elsewhere.

Some of its clay will be given to devotees for flower pots and gardens.

An 11-kilogram laddu will be awarded by raffle, while a 72-kilogram laddu will be auctioned.
