Andhra Pradesh to Celebrate Telugu Mahotsavam Annually

The Andhra Pradesh government has decided to celebrate Telugu Mahotsavam every year to promote the Telugu language and the state's cultural heritage.

The Tourism and Culture Minister, Kandula Durgesh, made this announcement during the valedictory function of the Undavalli Caves festival.

He emphasized the importance of education in the mother tongue, saying that it helps students develop creativity and critical thinking.

While English is important, the minister stressed that the mother tongue should not be neglected.

The government will also document the evolution of Telugu as a classical language and support the preservation of Telugu literature and manuscripts.

Traditional art forms like Tholu Bommalata, Harikatha, and Burrakatha will be revived.

The minister announced several awards for writers, artists, and scholars, and the prestigious Nandi Natakotsavams will be organized.

The birth centenary of Mandali Venkata Krishna Rao will be celebrated on August 4, and Telugu Language Day will be observed on August 29, coinciding with the birth anniversary of Gidugu Ramamurthy Pantulu.

During the festival, poets and social media influencers who have contributed to the promotion of Telugu were honored.
