Tesla Doubles India Sourcing to $4.5B
Tesla, the electric car company, is buying a lot more parts from India.
In 2025, they bought parts worth about $4.5 billion, which is almost double what they bought the year before.
This happened even though there are high taxes (tariffs) on Indian products in the United States.
Tesla wants to buy more from India to make their cars cheaper and to not rely so much on China.
They are also working on a new, more affordable electric car called 'Redwood,' which is why they need so many parts.
Indian suppliers are happy to work with Tesla because it helps them become more important in the global electric car market.
Tesla sourced $4 to $4.5 billion worth of auto components from India in 2025, nearly double the previous year.
Tesla plans to spend $5 billion in 2025, up from $1 billion in 2023 and $2 billion in 2024.
India has become one of Tesla's fastest-growing sourcing bases outside of North America.
The increase in sourcing is driven by Tesla's new, more affordable electric car project, code-named 'Redwood'.
Indian suppliers are benefiting from the partnership, enhancing their credibility and global integration.
