NHRC seeks report on UP police inaction over gangrape victim threats
The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has asked the Uttar Pradesh police chief to provide a detailed report about a serious issue.
A young girl who was gangraped is receiving life threats, and the police are not taking action to protect her.
Four of the six people who did this to her have been arrested, but the police are not doing enough to keep her safe.
The NHRC wants to know why the police are not helping the girl and what they plan to do about it.
They have given the police two weeks to send a report.
The NHRC has issued a notice to the Uttar Pradesh police chief over allegations of inaction on life threats to a gangrape victim.
The victim, a minor girl, is reportedly receiving life threats after the arrest of four of the six perpetrators in Khurja city, Bulandshahr district.
The NHRC has sought a detailed report from the UP DGP within two weeks.
The police personnel allegedly tried to stop the victim from meeting the deputy inspector general to narrate her ordeal.
The SHO of Khurja police station has been attached to the police line for negligence.
