Why Thane Bullet Train Station Will Rise Above Ground
A new bullet train line is being built between Mumbai and Ahmedabad.
The line will be 508 kilometres long.
It will pass through Maharashtra, Gujarat and Dadra and Nagar Haveli.
A station is planned in Thane.
Its main concourse, or central passenger area, will be about 12 metres above the ground.
This is because mangroves are present nearby.
Building higher can reduce the station’s impact on the surrounding environment.
