Kerala accused of debt trap
A union minister said that Kerala is in a lot of debt and not using the central government's help.
He said when the current government started, Kerala's debt was Rs 1.5 lakh crore, and now it's almost Rs 5 lakh crore.
The minister talked about a central scheme that gives jobs and money to people, saying it helps states that are not developing fast.
He also said the scheme now gives more work days and higher wages than before.
The minister thinks Kerala should use these schemes instead of just borrowing money.
Kerala's debt has increased by 230% over the past ten years, reaching nearly Rs 5 lakh crore.
Union Minister George Kurian accused the Kerala government of avoiding central schemes and depending on borrowing.
The PM Viksit Bharat Rozgar Yojana aims to boost job opportunities and economic growth.
The central government has increased workdays from 36 to 125 and daily wages from Rs 162 to Rs 369 under the employment scheme.
The Centre has allocated Rs 1.51 lakh crore for the employment scheme, focusing on rural infrastructure development.
