Andhra Pradesh Focuses on Speed for Investments
Andhra Pradesh is trying really hard to get big companies to invest there.
The state's IT minister, Nara Lokesh, says he got some important advice from the chairman of Tata Sons, N Chandrasekaran.
The advice was to make things happen quickly.
So, the government is now focused on being fast in everything they do to help businesses.
They even use WhatsApp to talk directly with company leaders and make sure big projects get started without any delays.
For example, they are going to build India's biggest steel plant with a company called ArcelorMittal, and they didn't even need a formal agreement.
They just talked on Zoom and made it happen!
Andhra Pradesh's IT Minister Nara Lokesh received advice from Tata Sons Chairman N Chandrasekaran to focus on speed in governance and deal-making.
The state has institutionalized a culture of speed across its government to attract global investments.
Lokesh uses WhatsApp groups to directly monitor and engage with major investors like ArcelorMittal and Google.
Andhra Pradesh is reworking its regulatory framework sector by sector to improve ease of doing business.
The state secured a deal with ArcelorMittal for India's largest steel plant without a formal memorandum of understanding, relying instead on a Zoom call.
