Delhi Master Plan 2047 Targets 40 Lakh New Homes

Delhi Master Plan 2047 Targets 40 Lakh New Homes

Delhi is making a big plan for the future, called the Master Plan of Delhi 2047.

The plan says the city will need about 40 lakh new homes by the year 2047, which is a huge number of places for people to live.

It wants to build smaller homes so more people can afford them.

It also wants more homes to rent, like hostels for students and shared dormitories for workers.

Many new homes could be built near metro and train stations so people do not have to travel so far.

The plan also wants to fix up old neighbourhoods and old DDA homes instead of only building new ones.

It wants to improve areas built without legal planning and charge more for anyone who builds without permission.

The plan even talks about the Yamuna river's floodplain, where building is mostly not allowed, and suggests a long cycle track there for people to enjoy.

The Delhi Development Authority approved this plan, and the national government may give its final approval within a week.
