ECI Issues Notices Over SIR Violations in Bengal
The Election Commission of India (ECI) has sent notices to some officers in West Bengal for not following the rules while updating the voter list.
They found out that a teacher who was supposed to be removed from her job as a Booth Level Officer (BLO) because she was also a local political party president, was still working.
The ECI has appointed new observers to make sure everything is done correctly.
The updated voter list will be published soon.
ECI issued show-cause notices to 2 BLOs, 1 ERO, and 1 AERO in West Bengal for alleged violations during the SIR exercise.
A former BLO, Soma Paul, was allegedly allowed to continue field duties despite being relieved due to her political affiliation with Trinamool Congress.
New BLO Debi Pal, an Anganwari worker, was appointed to replace Soma Paul.
Five newly appointed observers will monitor the reviewing process of digitised enumeration forms.
The draft electoral roll is scheduled to be published on December 16.
