Sensex, Nifty Extend Losses Amid Mixed Sectoral Performance
The Indian stock market had a tough day on Tuesday.
The main indexes, Sensex and Nifty50, went down because big companies like HDFC Bank and Reliance Industries didn't do well.
But smaller companies did better, so the overall market wasn't all bad.
Experts say that while smaller companies are doing well because people think they'll make good money, big companies are struggling because of problems like higher oil prices and political issues.
They think this might change in the next few months.
Sensex declined 238.41 points (0.31%) to 77,470.11, Nifty50 fell 50.80 points (0.21%) to 24,187.70.
HDFC Bank, RIL, SBI, Infosys, TCS, ITC, Trent, Power Grid, and Eternal were top contributors to Sensex's decline.
Realty, auto, and metal stocks bucked the weak trend, while PSU banks, IT, and oil & gas sectors lost the most.
Nifty Midcap100 gained 0.30%, Nifty Smallcap100 advanced 0.53%.
Analysts caution about elevated midcap valuations and potential demand flattening in H2 FY27.

Market Analysts
Analysts note that midcaps are performing well due to strong corporate earnings and demand-led business updates, but caution about elevated valuations and potential flattening demand in H2 FY27.
Investors
Investors are trimming equity exposure due to rising geopolitical risks and higher crude oil prices, leading to underperformance in large caps.
