Bengal’s Statewide Cleanliness Drive Targets Dengue as Cases Top 4,000

West Bengal plans a large cleaning campaign to help stop dengue from spreading.

The campaign will happen from September 3 to 5.

Workers will look for places where water has collected.

Mosquitoes that spread dengue can breed in stagnant water.

More than 4,000 dengue cases have been reported this year.

Seven deaths were directly linked to the disease by August 19.

Officials say the number of cases is lower than during the same period last year.

They also say people must help by keeping their surroundings clean and getting medical care if they develop symptoms.
