US Criticizes Bangladesh's Political Actions
Some important people from the US and Canada are worried about what's happening in Bangladesh.
The government there has banned a big political party called the Awami League, which these representatives think is not fair.
They want all parties to be able to take part in the next elections, which are coming up in February.
There have been protests and some violent incidents, including the killing of a man named Sharif Osman Hadi and the lynching of a Hindu man.
The representatives also think the government should do more to protect people's rights and make sure the elections are fair.
A Canadian lawmaker said the situation is very bad and that the government needs to do better to keep people safe.
The family of Sharif Osman Hadi blames the interim government for his murder and wants justice before the elections.
The interim government says they will try the murderers quickly.
US Representatives criticized Bangladesh's ban on the Awami League, urging free and fair elections.
The interim government banned the Awami League and amended the International Crimes Tribunal legislation.
Protests erupted following the death of Sharif Osman Hadi, with attacks on media offices and a Hindu man.
Canadian lawmaker Shuvaloy Majumdar condemned the violence against minorities and the ban on the Awami League.
The brother of Sharif Osman Hadi accused the interim government of murder and warned of consequences if justice is not served.
