Police File Chargesheet Over Deadly Malviya Nagar B&B Fire
A bed-and-breakfast building in Malviya Nagar caught fire on June 3.
Twenty-three people died, including some foreign nationals.
Police investigated what happened and filed a long chargesheet.
They accuse the property owner, its manager-accountant and a cook.
Police say the building originally had two storeys.
More floors were later added.
During that work, they allege that a rear emergency exit was blocked.
The blocked exit may have made it harder for people to escape, according to the investigation.
Delhi Police filed a nearly 1,500-page chargesheet over the June 3 Malviya Nagar B&B fire.
The blaze killed 23 people, including foreign nationals, according to police and the report.
Police allege the building’s rear alternative exit was blocked during construction.
The closure allegedly enabled additional rooms and operation as a full-fledged hotel.
The accused are owner Lavkesh Bajaj, manager Jai Mishra and cook Kesar Negi; Negi is on bail while the other two remain in judicial custody.
