Kolkata’s Colour Corridor: A Vibrant Public Artspace

Kolkata’s Colour Corridor: A Vibrant Public Artspace

In Kolkata, a dull and neglected lane in Ballygunge has been turned into a beautiful and colorful art space called the Colour Corridor.

This big mural project was led by an artist named Sayan Mukherjee, who worked with Start India Foundation and Asian Paints.

The mural is very large, covering about 8,200 square feet, and it shows many everyday objects that remind people of home, like old letter boxes, gramophones, and pressure cookers.

The idea was to make the space feel alive and full of color, capturing the spirit of home and memory.

The team faced some challenges, like people not respecting the space, but the positive response from local residents kept them going.

The mural took about 15 days to complete and was a team effort with many artists involved.
