BMC to Enforce Pet Ownership Rules After Citizen Complaints
The city of Bhubaneswar is going to start enforcing new rules about owning pets, like dogs.
This is because people have been complaining about problems like dog poop in public areas, loud barking, and dogs acting aggressively.
The new rules, which were created in 2022, will require pet owners to register their dogs, and provide proof of vaccinations and sterilization.
If owners don't follow the rules, they could be fined.
The city is also building dog parks to help improve the situation.
The BMC is working with the government to finalize the details, and the rules should be in place soon.
Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) will enforce pet ownership rules soon.
The draft by-laws were prepared in 2022 and refined with the housing and urban development department.
Citizen reporters highlighted issues like noise, waste, and aggressive dog behavior.
The by-laws propose fines for violations such as unregistered dogs and public defecation.
Mandatory dog registration, vaccination and sterilization certificates, and detention fees are included.
