Sridhar Vembu Urges Singapore-Style Anti-Corruption Laws in Tamil Nadu

Sridhar Vembu gave Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Joseph Vijay advice about fighting corruption.

He suggested using very strict laws similar to those in Singapore.

He said future high-level corruption should receive the death penalty.

He also said government officials should be paid much more.

Vembu proposed forgiving past corruption so officials could focus on the future.

He said courts should carefully review cases but should not take decades to decide them.

Financial advisor Senthilkumar disagreed that higher salaries would solve the problem.

He said strong accountability, openness and law enforcement were also needed.

Vijay has separately said he has files about alleged corruption by the previous DMK government.
