India Adds More Biostimulants to Boost Agriculture
The Indian government is allowing more products called biostimulants to be used in farming.
These products help plants grow better, especially when things are tough like during droughts or extreme weather.
The government just approved 101 new types of these products, which are like plant vitamins.
This means there are now 146 approved biostimulants.
However, it might take companies a while to get permission from each state to actually sell these products.
Biostimulants help farmers grow more food using fewer resources, which is good for the environment.
The market for these products is growing, with a lot of smaller companies involved in India.
The Indian government added 101 more biostimulants to the Fertiliser Control Order (FCO).
This brings the total number of notified biostimulant formulations to 146.
The new formulations include extracts from seaweed, Cytokinin, and Humic acid derivatives.
Companies may need six months to a year to get state approvals and start manufacturing.
The biostimulants market is estimated at $211 million in India and $3.39 billion globally.
