CJP Protests Continue in Delhi Amid Detentions and Court Intervention

The Cockroach Janta Party and other groups protested in Delhi over alleged problems with changes to voter lists.

They want Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar to resign.

About 200 people were detained as protesters moved toward Jantar Mantar.

The Supreme Court said people should not be illegally detained for gathering peacefully.

It also asked officials to keep metro services and internet working, as long as public order allowed.

Three CJP leaders were released after appearing before a magistrate.

Police said they signed a promise to maintain peace, but one leader said he did not sign it.

The party said it plans to keep protesting.
